Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of a traditional Chinese medicine compound consisting of strengthening the spleen, nourishing the kidney, activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis on the expression of transforming growth factor ¦Â1 (TGF¦Â1) and type IV collagen mRNA in the renal cortex of rats with early diabetic nephropathy (DN), and explore its mechanism of action. Methods A rat model of diabetic nephropathy was established by a one-time intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ) at a dose of 53 mg/kg. After successful modeling, they were randomly divided into a traditional Chinese medicine group (TCM compound), a western medicine group (Ruitai), and a model group. and normal group. Eight weeks after intragastric administration, the expression of TGF¦Â1 and type IV collagen mRNA in rat renal cortex was detected by RT-PCR. Results Compared with the model group, each treatment group significantly reduced the expression of TGF-¦Â1 and type IV collagen mRNA in the renal cortex of diabetic rats (P<0.01), and the traditional Chinese medicine group was better than the western medicine group (P<0.01). Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine compound can protect the kidneys, delay renal pathological damage, and inhibit the formation of diabetic nephropathy by reducing the expression of TGF¦Â1 and type IV collagen mRNA in the renal cortex of diabetic rats.
