Marine Collagen Peptide Improves Neurocognitive Function In Asphyxiated Infant Rats

Abstract
Objective To explore the effects of marine collagen peptide on the short-term and long-term neurocognitive functions of asphyxiated infant rats. Methods 70 healthy adult SD rats were mated and conceived. The pregnant rats underwent delayed cesarean section 1 day before delivery to establish a model of neonatal rat asphyxia. The asphyxiated rat rats were randomly divided into asphyxia groups and marine collagen peptide low (0.225%) and medium marine collagen peptide groups. (0.45%) and high (1.35%) dose groups, normal delivery of rats served as the control group; the physiological development and neurological reflexes of the offspring were observed after birth, and the Morris water maze test was conducted at weaning and 3 months of age. Results: The time for the asphyxia group and the three MCPs intervention group to reach the target physiological and neural reflex indicators was longer than that of the control group (P<0.05); Morris water maze test results showed that the escape latency of the asphyxia group and the three MCPs intervention group at weaning was longer than that of the control group (P<0.05). (P<0.05); the number of platform crossings in the control group, asphyxia group, low, medium and high MCPs groups were (7.00¡À1.706), (3.92¡À1.505), (4.33¡À1.497), (4.50¡À1.931), (4.67) respectively ¡À1.371), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); at 3 months of age, compared with the asphyxia group, the escape latency of rats in the three MCPs intervention groups was significantly shortened (P<0.01), and the number of times they crossed the platform was significantly increased (P< 0.05). Conclusion A certain dose of marine collagen peptide can improve the long-term learning and memory ability of asphyxiated rats.
