Abstract
Trypsin was used to hydrolyze waste leather industrial gelatin to prepare collagen, which was then pre-reacted with maleic anhydride. Using ammonium persulfate as the initiator, maleic anhydride-collagen was grafted and copolymerized with styrene and ethyl acrylate monomers, and a new papermaking surface sizing agent was synthesized in the water phase. Through single factor experiments, the preparation conditions of the sizing agent were optimized using the grafting rate and precipitation rate of the product as indicators; Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, laser particle size analyzer and X-ray diffractometer were used to characterize the product and study the sizing of the product Application performance. The results showed that a grafting reaction occurred between hydrolyzed collagen, styrene and ethyl acrylate, and the grafting rate was about 60%. The particle size distribution of the product is relatively uniform, with an average particle size of 0.318 ¦Ìm. When the product is sized alone, the tensile index, ring pressure index and water resistance of the paper are increased by 35.27%, 95.43% and 25.36% respectively; when the product is combined with styrene-acrylic emulsion, the optimal ratio is 8:2
