Abstract
After chitosan formed a polymer ion complex with collagen or alginic acid, a chitosan complex sponge was prepared using casting/freeze-drying technology. The hydrophilicity and morphology of the complex sponges with different compositions were characterized, and it was found that adding collagen or Alginic acid can increase the water absorption and water retention of sponges and help to form a macroporous structure in sponges. The sponges are degraded in vitro using lysozyme in a phosphate buffer with pH 7.4. The degradation rate of the composite sponges is higher than that of simple sponges. The chitosan sponge is slightly faster. Human fetal skin fibroblasts were cultured in the sponge and it was found that the growth and proliferation of cells in the composite sponge was better than that of the simple chitosan sponge, and the composite sponge was not as good as the simple collagen sponge. Then degradation and shrinkage will occur during the cell culture process. This result is expected to become an ideal tissue engineering scaffold.
